All This For Something More
Fairy lights I pondered my childhood stars Running around the big tree Fleeing her accusatory scene He said, “Leave her alone.” I shopped in a memory store and scaled the banister as if it were my next great literary adventure. I sang in Winter and crowded the 8 stages (chorus) I wrote on the carpet became a cocoon until noon charted my dollar-pages all to leave the New York mind behind. no clutter of mine I took on Saguaro times and wrote of the purple curse captured in honest verse Left the train tracks (4th of July butterflies) Said hello (and goodbye) Brought this book to your door to impress these final lines I take this memory and retire no greeting bell presumes this file I said hello, but I never said goodbye I wrote all this for something more.
